Google Messages Users Stuck with RCS Issues After Smart Switch Transfer
Google Messages users on Samsung Galaxy devices are experiencing issues connecting to RCS (Rich Communication Services) messaging, according to reports on Reddit. The problem seems to occur after using the Smart Switch app to transfer data from one device to another.
Users have described seeing error code 3100 when trying to connect to RCS, and some have tried various remedies with mixed success. A Google representative suggested that corrupted cache files may be causing the issue, which could have been introduced during the data transfer process via Smart Switch.
The recommended steps to resolve the issue include updating to the latest version of Messages, toggling RCS off and on, clearing Carrier Services data, restarting the phone, and then re-enabling RCS. However, some users report that even these steps did not fix the problem.
One user who experienced the issue suggested conducting a factory reset and avoiding the use of Smart Switch to transfer messages. Another solution proposed involves a six-part process to resolve the issue, which has reportedly worked for at least one user.
