Google Patches Critical Chrome Vulnerability Already Being Exploited in the Wild

Google has released Chrome version 153 to address a security vulnerability that is already being exploited by hackers. The company patched a medium-severity out-of-bounds write flaw in its V8 JavaScript engine, which affects Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android users.

The bug, known as CVE-2026-87491, was reported by Jihyeon Jeong of Seoul National University and is already being exploited in the wild. Google's security advisory confirms that an exploit for the vulnerability exists and urges Chrome users to update their browsers as soon as possible.

Chrome on iOS is not affected by this particular vulnerability. Users can update their browser by clicking the three-dot menu, selecting Settings, choosing About Chrome, and letting Chrome check for and install the latest available version.
