Google Pay Blocked on China-ROM Phones After Play Services Update

A recent issue with Google Pay has affected phones from Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo in China. The problem started when Google Play Services updated to version 26.28, which blocked contactless payments on Chinese firmware phones. However, global versions of the same devices were unaffected.

Developer MarvinFS discovered that Play Services was detecting a 'CN SKU' and disabling the TapAndPay HCE service. This meant that Google's software was specifically checking whether a phone was from China and shutting off tap-to-pay if it was.

Affected devices included models such as the Vivo X200 Ultra, Oppo Find N3, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Users reported that rolling back Play Services or leaving all Google Play beta programs restored functionality.
