Samsung and Apple have intervened in a case involving Google's payment practices to device distributors.

The two tech giants have told the D.C. Circuit that they support a district court decision rejecting a proposed ban on Google's payments, with Samsung arguing that the ban would deprive it of revenue needed for research and development in its mobile business unit.

Apple, meanwhile, claims that the ban would only benefit Google at the expense of customers and third parties.
