Google Photos Cuts Recovery Time in Half for All Files

Google Photos users may soon have less time to recover deleted media, according to recent evidence. Currently, backed-up files can be recovered for up to 60 days, while non-backed up regular media has a 30-day window. However, it appears that Google is planning to unify these timeframes, reducing the recovery period to 30 days across the board.

This change could simplify the experience for users, eliminating confusion about whether deleted files are backed up or not. Nevertheless, it remains unclear why Google is making this adjustment. For now, the move has not been implemented, and it's likely that users will be notified before any changes take effect.

To check how much time you have left to recover a deleted photo or video in Google Photos, simply visit your Trash folder and tap on an item. The number of days remaining until permanent deletion will appear below the selected file.
