Google Photos Gets AI-Powered Editing with Gemini Spark Integration
Google has expanded its Gemini Spark AI agent to Google Photos, allowing eligible users to organize and edit their photo libraries through natural-language instructions.
The integration enables users to instruct Spark to search for photographs and videos, select preferred images, filter duplicates, create albums, and make edited copies of pictures. Users can also instruct the agent to build collages, extract text from images, or perform tasks across connected Google services.
Google says Spark can handle multi-stage requests. A user could ask it to find photographs from a trip, enhance selected images, put them into an album, and prepare a message containing a link without needing to manually perform each step.
The integration is being introduced gradually for eligible Gemini Spark users aged 18 and over in the US and is currently limited to English. New albums are private by default, while some actions, including sharing albums and sending emails, require confirmation from users before proceeding.
