Google Photos Now Recognizes Fido and Whiskers

Google Photos has rolled out a new feature that allows users to automatically group photos of their pets. The algorithm will recognize dogs and cats in photos, much like it identifies people, and group them together for easy browsing.

This means users can search for specific breeds or individual animals within the app, making it easier to find and share favorite moments with friends and family on social media platforms like Instagram.

While Google claims users will be able to search by breed, there is a caveat: the algorithm may struggle differentiating between multiple animals within that parameter. Users can also use animal emojis (🐶 and 🐱) to search through their photos.

The new feature only applies to dogs and cats for now, leaving owners of other pets, such as horses or reptiles, to manually organize their own collections.
