Google Photos users may see their backed-up photos and videos deleted permanently after just 30 days, down from 60 days currently.

This change is still in development and was first spotted by Android Authority in code related to Google Photos version 7.90.

The new rule aims to unify the retention period for all deleted media, regardless of whether it's backed up or not.

Currently, backed-up photos and videos remain in the Trash for 60 days before being permanently deleted, while non-backed-up files are removed after 30 days.
