Google Photos Users Can Now Disable Sticker Shimmer Effect

Google has updated its Photos app to give users more control over a feature that was introduced last year. The 'shimmer' animation, which highlights photo subjects eligible for conversion into stickers, can now be turned off by users.

The shimmer effect is designed to show the user what part of the photo will be used as a sticker and whether it's compatible with this feature. However, some users found it distracting, leading Google to introduce a new setting that allows users to turn off the animation.

To disable the shimmer effect, users can go to Settings > Preferences > Photo view and toggle 'Show shimmer' off. The animation is enabled by default but can be turned on or off at any time.
