Google Pixel 11 Delivers Confidence in Base Model Flagship
The Google Pixel 11 is a significant improvement over its predecessor, the Pixel 10. While it still lags behind the more expensive Pro models in display and camera hardware, the base model now feels more competitive than ever before.
The phone's design has undergone some thoughtful refinements, including a weight reduction to 197 grams from 204 grams, despite maintaining the same thickness of 8.6mm. The battery capacity has been slightly increased from 4,970mAh to 4,985mAh.
The Pixel 11 also features improved storage options, starting with 256GB and 12GB of RAM, replacing the 128GB option. This upgrade raises the entry price from $799 to $899, but it's worth noting that the 256GB Pixel 10 was released for $899 last year.
The camera system has been upgraded with a new 48MP main sensor, which is 56% more light-sensitive than its predecessor. The addition of a 5x telephoto lens provides more flexibility and options for framing shots. While the Pixel 11's camera may not be an across-the-board victory over the Pixel 9, it offers more freedom when capturing images.
The phone also debuts with Android 17 and will receive seven years of OS, security, and Pixel updates. It features Google's newest Android and Gemini features, including Creator Suite, which adds video tools directly to the camera experience.
