Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold Relocates NFC Chip to Front Display
Google has unveiled its latest foldable smartphone, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, which boasts several significant upgrades. Released on August 20, 2026, this device features Google's fastest and most powerful dedicated chip ever, the Tensor G6, along with the latest Gemini Nano model.
In a notable change from previous models, the NFC chip and touchpoint have been relocated to the top of the front panel. This means users will now need to tap the upper part of the display for NFC contactless payments, reading 'My Number Cards,' driver's licenses, and other services that utilize FeliCa-based payments.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is also thinner and lighter than its predecessor, with a threefold increase in body durability. However, it's essential to note that this change affects the daily use of the device, particularly for those upgrading from previous foldable models like the Pixel Fold, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, or Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
Interestingly, the NFC location on the Pixel 11 Pro XL remains unchanged, situated on the back, just like previous Google Pixel devices.
