Google Pixel Watch 5 Brings Advanced Health Tracking and Gemini AI Integration
The Google Pixel Watch 5 has been launched with advanced health tracking features, improved GPS, and Gemini AI integration. The new smartwatch is available for preorder at Best Buy ahead of its August 20 release. It starts at $399.99 for the 41mm Wi-Fi model and $429.99 for the larger 45mm version.
The Pixel Watch 5 focuses on health, with Google's new Health Guardian features monitoring several trends and providing monthly summaries. These include blood pressure, sleep breathing quality, and insulin resistance trends. The watch can also detect potential breathing emergencies using its sensors and AI, contacting emergency services if necessary.
Google notes that the new blood pressure and insulin resistance trend features are intended for general wellness and not designed to diagnose medical conditions. Fitness tracking has been upgraded with twice the GPS route accuracy of the Pixel Watch 4 in difficult environments. A new strength training experience is also coming, with step-by-step workout guidance and the ability to log weights and reps directly from the watch.
The Pixel Watch 5 uses a new Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated processor with 50% more RAM and a 12% CPU boost, making it 20% faster than the previous generation. Other upgrades include a 3,000-nit Actua 360 Display, new watch faces, and up to 40 hours of battery life for the 45mm model.
A special edition Pixel Watch 5 in collaboration with Stephen Curry will retail for $579 and launches on September 3. This version features a polished silver case, an exclusive blue Active Sport Band, and Curry-inspired watch face and animations.
