Google Pixel Watch 5 Brings Practical Upgrades to the Smartwatch Game
The latest iteration of Google's smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5, offers several key upgrades over its predecessor. Released on August 12, 2026, with availability scheduled for August 20, the watch boasts improved battery life, increased storage capacity, and enhanced outdoor tools.
The 45mm Bluetooth model is estimated to last up to 40 hours with the always-on display enabled, or up to 72 hours in Battery Saver mode. In comparison, the smaller 41mm version has a maximum runtime of 30 hours with always-on display and 48 hours in Battery Saver.
Google also claims that the updated Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated chip provides 20% faster processing than its predecessor, addressing concerns about responsiveness. Additionally, the Pixel Watch 5 includes dual-frequency GPS for improved positioning accuracy, as well as Satellite SOS support on LTE models.
