Google Play Enforces Stricter Performance Requirements for Games and Apps
Google is introducing stricter performance requirements for games and apps in its mobile store to enhance project quality amid the memory market crisis.
The tech giant has set threshold values for dynamic memory consumption by games and apps, as well as for memory usage for raster images, which will depend on users' device configurations.
Google also wants developers to optimize DEX code, aiming for optimization, code reduction, and obfuscation metrics of at least 25%.
The new requirements are set to take effect in February 2027, with Google stating that non-compliant projects will not be removed from the store but may face reduced visibility and publication restrictions.
