Google Pledges $10 Million for Indiana Water Infrastructure Upgrades
Google has pledged $10 million to improve Indiana's water infrastructure and protect watersheds. The investment marks a significant commitment by the tech giant, which is expanding its digital presence in the state with its recently launched data center in Fort Wayne.
The first allocation of $1.1 million will go towards upgrading the Three Rivers Filtration Plant in Fort Wayne, focusing on changes to lime residual processing. This move is expected to reduce water withdrawals from the St. Joseph River by approximately 180 million gallons annually and save the city around $150,000 per year.
This initiative builds upon Google's previous efforts to protect over 20 acres of wetlands in Allen County and represents a broader multi-year commitment to enhancing water infrastructure and promoting watershed resilience.
