Google Pledges $15.1 Billion for AI-Fueled Data Centers in Finland
Google has announced its largest European investment to date, committing at least $15.1 billion in Finnish AI infrastructure over two years.
The investment will fund three new data centers in northern Finland, as well as improvements to the local electricity grid and clean energy capacity.
The deal includes a 22-year power purchase agreement with Finnish utility Fortum, securing up to 50% of the output from one of its nuclear plants.
Google's President and Chief Investment Officer Ruth Porat described the arrangement as 'bring your own power,' marking the company's first nuclear energy deal outside the United States.
