Google Pledges $526M for New Solar Facility in Arkansas

Google has agreed to pay Entergy Arkansas $526 million for the construction of Cypress Solar, a 600-megawatt solar facility and 350-megawatt battery storage system in Jefferson County, Arkansas.

The project will power Google's West Memphis data center, which is expected to begin taking electric service in February 2027 and ramp up to full capacity by October 2029.

According to the special rate contract between Google and Entergy, the tech giant will pay an additional $190 million for transmission system upgrades needed to serve the project.

The contract stipulates that Google's payments for Cypress Solar will not be treated as a contribution in aid of construction, but rather as another form of payment spread out over time.
