Google Pours $10 Million into Ohio Water Initiatives
Google has announced a $10 million investment in Ohio's water resources, infrastructure, and access. The tech giant will provide an initial $3 million grant to the Ohio Department of Agriculture's H2Ohio Farmland Water Management Program. This program aims to improve agricultural drainage systems, reduce runoff, and conserve water.
The remaining funding will support additional community water sources, infrastructure, and access projects across Ohio. Google stated that its investment builds on existing water stewardship efforts in the state, including wetland restoration and floodplain rehabilitation projects.
The company has committed over $500 million globally toward water-related initiatives and has pledged to replenish more freshwater than it consumes by 2030. Google's water stewardship efforts focus on watershed health, ecosystem restoration, water replenishment, infrastructure improvements, and community resilience.
