Google Pours €13 Billion into Finnish Digital Infrastructure
Google has announced that it will invest €13 billion in Finland's digital infrastructure over the next two years. This investment is the largest made by Google in Europe and reflects Finland's leadership in responsible AI development. The projects include data centers for operating artificial intelligence models, clean energy initiatives, and dedicated funds for nature conservation, education, research, and workforce development.
The construction of these new projects is expected to begin between 2027 and 2028. Google estimates that the investments will contribute around €3.6 billion annually to Finland's GDP and support over 37,000 jobs across the country.
Finland has been a long-standing partner of Google in Europe, with the company's investment presence dating back to 2009 when it acquired a former paper mill in Hamina and transformed it into one of its most advanced data centers.
