Google Powers Electric Semi Truck Route Across Texas
Google is partnering with Nevoya and the Center for Green Market Activation (GMA) to launch an all-electric route between Houston and Dallas, Texas. The project involves deploying 25 electric semi trucks and associated charging infrastructure on this new route.
The companies expect these vehicles to travel approximately 11 million miles annually, reducing 92,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions (CO2e) compared to traditional diesel trucks over the length of the contracts.
By pooling their environmental attribute certificates (EACs), Google and other companies are sending a stronger demand signal, which helps grow the market for zero-emission technologies like this freight shipping project.
This is part of a larger project with 63 trucks in total, making it the largest known deployment of class 8 battery zero-emission trucks in Texas.
