Google Prepares for 2026 US Midterm Elections with Enhanced Transparency and Security Measures
As the 2026 U.S. midterm elections approach, Google is taking steps to ensure that users have access to reliable and trustworthy information.
The company has highlighted official resources on its platform and is rolling out interactive tools across Search, including in AI Mode and AI Overviews, and in the Gemini app to connect users with election information.
These tools include polling locations, registration deadlines, and other official data provided by state and local governments and Democracy Works, as well as real-time voting results from The Associated Press.
To help users spot AI-generated content, Google's SynthID tool adds imperceptible watermarks to AI-generated media, allowing users to verify media just by asking 'Is this made with AI?' across the Gemini app, Search, and Chrome.
