Google Prepares for Massive Shift with Googlebook Launch
Google's September 15 press event is just two weeks away, and excitement is building around its upcoming Googlebook operating system. The system represents a significant shift in architecture for Google's computing history, marking a pivot from ChromeOS to a unified Android OS foundation.
One of the key features of Googlebook is the ability to run native Android apps without virtualization overhead, making them first-class desktop citizens. This means instant launching, zero emulation penalty, and direct GPU access.
Googlebook also includes the full desktop version of Chrome with complete extension support, developer tools, and multi-window workflows. The OS is being referred to internally as Aluminium OS, but Google has not clarified the consumer branding yet.
