Google Reveals Itself as Developer Behind Massive Data Center Campus
Google has confirmed it's behind Project Clydesdale, a massive data center campus under construction in unincorporated Tulsa County since last year. The project spans 506 acres and is next to Cherokee Industrial Park.
The end user had not been publicly identified until Wednesday, when Google revealed the company was building the campus as part of its global network. Trystine Payfer, Google's Public Affairs Manager for Oklahoma, stated the project represents a long-term commitment to Tulsa County's future and is 'far more than an infrastructure investment.'
The data center will create jobs not just directly tied to it but also indirectly through construction and electrical work, said Stacy Smith, Vice President of Business Development for the Tulsa Regional Chamber. Google has invested over $15 billion in Oklahoma since 2011, supporting $2.6 billion in economic activity in 2025 alone.
The project faced opposition from residents concerned about its impact on surrounding communities, but Google and Beale Infrastructure, the company building the campus, said it would bring investment in education, workforce development, small businesses, and digital access.
