Google Revives Post View Counts for Business Profiles After Three-Year Absence
Google has reintroduced post view counts for Business Profiles in its dashboard, a feature that was discontinued three and a half years ago. The new metric is rolling out globally, covering posts published in the past 18 months, and combines views from Search and Maps. This means profile managers can now see which post types earn attention without relying on third-party tools.
The view counts appear on each post card in the Posts section of the Business Profile dashboard. According to Google, the reporting covers three key aspects: posts published over the past 18 months, all post types (including updates, offers, and events), and views from both Search and Maps combined into one number.
Google's announcement came in the September Small Business Bulletin, posted by Lisa Landsman, a Google employee. The company describes post view counts as 'one of our most requested features yet' and says the feature is currently rolling out globally, but not yet available in the API.
