Google Scammers Wear Many Faces: Spot the Fakes
New Google scams have emerged, targeting unsuspecting users with fake forms, calendar invites, and phone calls. The scams often use the Google logo to appear legitimate, but there are ways to spot them.
A Nevada man was recently scammed out of $768 after responding to a fake Google Form that looked like it came from the company. He filled in his Gmail password, which then fell into the wrong hands.
Another scam involves calendar invites with 'dispute' numbers, which appear on your Google Calendar even if you didn't click anything. These numbers are often used for phishing and should be treated with caution.
A third scam claims to be from 'Google Security', calling users with a fake code to secure their account. However, Google insists it will never call about security matters.
