Google Scoops Up Defunct Airline Data for AI Training
Google has acquired data from the defunct Spirit Airlines in a $10 million bankruptcy auction. The purchase includes 100 million emails, 500 million messages, and various software models and algorithms used by the airline. Google will use this material to improve its products and AI models.
The dataset also comprises data on revenue, flight operations, marketing, personnel, and project management, as well as 30 million lines of program code and development data. Additionally, it includes pricing data from 7.2 billion competing flights and approximately 7.5 billion passenger transactions.
No personal data will be included in the deal, according to Google, which says a third party will review the material and remove any information that could identify individuals.
