Google Search Helps Runners Get Ready for Their Next Big Race
As people look for ways to unplug and engage in physical activity, running-related searches are spiking. Searches like “run club,” “how to choose running shoes,” and “how to train for a marathon” have reached all-time highs this year.
To help runners prepare for their next big race, Google's Search AI features offer several tools and resources. First, users can create a training plan tailored to their specific needs and neighborhood using the Canvas tool in Search.
The user simply selects the Canvas tool from the plus (+) menu and asks it to build a schedule for them, recommending cross-training and strength-building strategies. Additionally, users can discover fresh perspectives from sites and creators across the web by asking specific questions, such as “Help me make a sub 4.5hr training plan for the Texas Marathon with different routes I can run around Montrose. I'm currently running 4x a week with my longest run typically being 7-9 miles.”
Another way Search can help runners is by creating custom playlists to fuel their runs. Users can connect their YouTube Music account with Search and ask AI Mode to create a playlist for them, allowing them to stay motivated and listen to their favorite artists on the go.
