Google Set to Release New AI Model 3.8 Flash Amid Coding Capabilities Push

Alphabet Inc.'s Google is reportedly preparing to release its new artificial intelligence model, called 3.8 Flash or 'Skimaki', as soon as this Wednesday, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The new model is expected to improve coding capabilities, an area where Google's Gemini models have trailed rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic in recent months.

In head-to-head testing through Google's internal coding tool, Jetski, the company's engineers reportedly preferred 3.8 Flash over Anthropic's Opus.

The Flash series is designed to be smaller, cheaper, and faster than Google's largest AI models but remains less powerful.
