Alphabet's (GOOGL) stock rose 0.6% in after-hours trading on Tuesday following reports that Google is set to release a new artificial intelligence model called Gemini 3.8 Flash, also known as 'Skimaki.'

The model, which could debut as early as Wednesday, aims to enhance coding performance and operate with greater speed and reduced costs compared to Google's most sophisticated AI systems.

Internal tests showed Google engineers favoring Gemini 3.8 Flash over Anthropic's Opus model using the Jetski evaluation tool.

While this release may strengthen Google's competitive standing, industry observers don't anticipate it will immediately restore the company's market leadership.
