Google Sets 1,000-Client Account Limit for Merchant Center Agencies
Google has quietly updated its Merchant Center for Agencies documentation to reveal that agencies can link up to 1,000 client accounts from within a single login. This change was made on August 14, 2026, and appears in the help article covering user access inside Merchant Center for Agencies.
The update applies to the agency layer, which sits above individual client accounts and provides features like a portfolio overview, cross-account diagnostics, and ads opportunities. However, it does not affect the multi-client account (MCA), which is a parent-child feed structure that remains unchanged.
Agencies can link client accounts by adding them from within their agency Merchant Center account, using the 'Add an account' feature. This process allows agencies to manage multiple client accounts under one login, but raises questions about how links are counted against the 1,000-account ceiling.
