Google Settles UK App Developers' $353m Class Action Lawsuit

A mass lawsuit brought by UK app developers against Google has been settled for £260 million ($353.21m). The claim, led by academic Barry Rodger, alleged that Google abused its dominant position in the market.

The settlement covers developers who sold apps on Google Play between August 2018 and July 2026. Under the agreement, £160m will be made available to eligible app developers, while £100m will cover the costs of bringing and funding the lawsuit.

Google has maintained that it has strong defences against Rodger's claim and has made no admission of liability or wrongdoing. The settlement is subject to approval from the London Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT).
