Google Should Follow Apple's Lead on Comprehensive Device Protection
Apple's recent announcement of its AppleCare One Family plan has left many wondering why Google hasn't followed suit. The new plan offers comprehensive coverage for up to six family members, including accidental damage, battery replacement, and theft protection. For just $49.99 per month, families can rest assured that all their eligible devices are protected.
Currently, Pixel Care Plus, Google's equivalent of AppleCare, falls short in several areas. It covers only one device at a time, requiring multiple plans for larger households. Additionally, the cost adds up quickly, with each additional family member needing a separate subscription. In comparison, the AppleCare One Family plan is significantly more affordable, offering better value for families.
Apple's new plan includes all the benefits of AppleCare Plus, such as protection against accidental damage and battery replacement. It also offers priority service and six theft-or-loss claims per family group every 12 months. Google would do well to consider adopting a similar approach for Pixel devices, making it easier for customers to protect their smartphones.
