Google Simplifies A/B Testing for Search Ads with New Automated Interface

Google has rolled out a new simplified A/B testing feature for search ads in its Ads Manager interface. The updated system allows advertisers to run performance tests on their Search campaigns with just a few clicks, eliminating the need for complex technical knowledge.

The old process of designing and implementing A/B tests required advanced understanding of Google's ad auction mechanism and statistical concepts. Now, users can choose from pre-selected parameters and apply them to an existing campaign in minutes.

Alongside this update, Performance Planner has also been upgraded to allow advertisers to see how changes to a campaign's bids or budget targets could impact its performance before making any adjustments.

The new testing interface will be rolled out gradually across September 2026 and may become available in users' accounts by the end of the month. This update is part of Google's broader trend of enriching its offerings with AI-powered tools to bring more transparency and control to advertisers.
