Google Slashes £1 Billion UK App Claim to £260 Million

Google has agreed to settle a claim from UK app developers for £260 million. This is a significant reduction from an initial valuation of above £1 billion.

The claim was related to apps sold through Google Play between August 2018 and July 2026. Of the total settlement, £160 million will go towards developer compensation, while £100 million will cover litigation costs.

This means that only 61.5% of the settlement funds will be allocated towards developer compensation, with the remaining 38.5% covering legal expenses.
