Google Slashes Photo Deletion Time Limit to 30 Days
Google Photos users will now have to act faster when deleting photos and videos from their account. The company has reduced the retention period in the trash from 60 days to 30 days, meaning that deleted content will be automatically and permanently removed after this time.
This change affects both backed-up and non-backed-up content. Previously, Google Photos differentiated between these two types of files, with the former remaining in the trash for 60 days and the latter being permanently deleted after 30 days. The distinction is now being eliminated, with a uniform period of 30 days applying to all deleted content.
The deletion process can also affect multiple devices, as backed-up photos and videos will be removed from all other devices where Google Photos with backup enabled is used. However, copies in other Google services such as Gmail, Drive, Blogger, or YouTube are not automatically deleted.
