Google Snags Spirit Airlines Data Trove for $10 Million
Spirit Airlines has ceased operations and is being sold off in a bankruptcy auction. Google emerged as the winning bidder, purchasing a vast trove of data for $10 million. The data includes more than 100 million company emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams chats, and 30 million lines of code.
The data also covers revenue, aircraft operations, and employee productivity. However, passenger profiles and loyalty program member records were excluded from the sale.
Google claims it will scrub any personally identifiable information from the data before using it to train its AI models. The company aims to improve its products and services with this new dataset.
