Google Snaps Up Spirit's Data Assets for $10 Million
Google has emerged as the winning bidder for Spirit Airlines' data and software assets in its bankruptcy sale. The search giant offered $10 million for a large pool of historical business and technology information generated during Spirit's operations.
The dataset includes over 100 million employee emails, approximately 500 million Microsoft Teams messages, spreadsheets, calendars, and other internal business records dating back to 1986.
The sale also covers more than 175,000 historical employee records, as well as about 30 million lines of code, software models, development metadata, and algorithms.
Google stated that the data will not contain personally identifiable information, with a third party removing such information before the dataset is transferred.
