Google Spared Breakup, But Must Open Up Ad Exchange
A US federal judge has rejected a request to break up Google's digital advertising technology empire, but has ordered the tech giant to implement remedies to address concerns about its dominance in the market.
The ruling comes after a lengthy antitrust case against Google, which was accused of using its ad exchange business to stifle competition and favor its own services over those of rivals.
Judge Khushita Vasant declined to order Google to sell off its ad exchange, but said the company must make its tools operable with those run by competitors, effectively forcing it to open up its platform to other players in the market.
