Google Stores Open for Business in Tokyo's Trendy Omotesando
The first Google Store outside of the United States has opened in Tokyo's Omotesando district. The store, located on the tree-lined boulevard that stretches from Harajuku Station, is a one-stop shop for all things Google. Visitors can get hands-on looks at the latest Google Pixel smartphones and other devices such as Fitbit and Nest.
The store also features a help desk where staff are available to answer questions, resolve performance problems, or perform repairs on Google devices and services. Additionally, customers can arrange in-store pickup for items ordered online from the Google Store.
Google's choice of location may seem unusual given Japan's existing retail landscape, but the company is likely hoping to associate its products with the fashionable and cosmopolitan image of Omotesando. With Apple and Samsung already having a presence in the area, it seems that Harajuku is becoming a hub for tech brands.
The Google Store Omotesando is located at 4-40-3 Jingumae, Tokyo-to, Shibuya-ku, Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Omokado, and is open from 10am to 8pm.
