Google Streamlines File Sharing Across Web Apps

Google has revamped its interface for sharing files across Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms on the web. The redesign aims to make it easier for users to share files with specific people while controlling permissions.

The new interface separates the choice between sharing with individuals or groups from sharing a link, making it clearer which option is being chosen. A 'copy link' button has also been added, allowing users to get a link without changing link permissions.

This redesign comes as many organizations are working remotely due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions, and Google believes that sharing files is critical for collaboration in such situations.
