Google Streamlines Password Transfer Between Android Apps

Google has simplified the process of transferring saved passwords between different password managers on Android devices. Users can now import or copy their passwords and passkeys from another provider, making it easier to switch between apps.

The new feature uses the Credential Exchange Format (CXF), a standardized data structure published by the FIDO Alliance, which helps users move log-ins between different password managers.

Currently, Google's Password Manager, 1Password, Bitwarden Password Manager, and Dashlane are supported, but Google plans to roll out integrations with more password managers in the future. The feature is available on devices running Android 8 and above.

This update addresses one of the biggest friction points when switching apps on your phone, particularly for users managing accounts across multiple devices in countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
