Google Supports 16 Asia-Pacific Projects with AI Climate Accelerator
Google has selected 16 organisations across Asia-Pacific to participate in its three-month accelerator program focused on using AI to address climate and environmental challenges. The projects will use Google's AI tools, technical support, and mentorship to develop and scale existing applications. The selected initiatives span areas including biodiversity monitoring, environmental risk prediction, satellite-based crop analysis, and carbon measurement.
The cohort includes organisations from Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, and Thailand. These projects will help monitor ecosystems, improve agricultural resilience, measure carbon outcomes, and support disaster-risk analysis. The program is intended to aid the development and scaling of existing environmental applications rather than creating a new climate technology.
Google's AI tools will be used in conjunction with other technologies like satellite data, remote sensing, bioacoustics, drones, or geospatial analysis. This collaboration aims to address specific environmental problems using digital tools, giving the story a clear link between technology and the environment.
