Google Takes Fashionable Turn with Tokyo Store Launch
Google has opened its first store outside of the United States in Tokyo's Omotesando neighborhood. The store, which held its grand opening on August 13, is a major move for the tech giant as it looks to expand its presence in Japan. Located near Harajuku Station, the Google Store offers customers hands-on experience with Google products, including Pixel smartphones and Fitbit devices.
The store also features a help desk where staff can assist with device issues and provide repair services. In-store pickup is available for online orders from the Google Store. The location of the store is significant, as Omotesando is known for its fashionable and sophisticated image, which Google hopes will rub off on its products.
Google's decision to open a store in Tokyo comes at a time when tech companies are increasingly looking to expand their retail presence in Japan. Apple has already established a store in the area, and Samsung has a showroom nearby.
