Google Tests Advertiser-Favicon Display in Mobile Sponsored Results

Google is testing a new format for sponsored results on its mobile search engine. According to Sachin Patel, who spotted the change and shared screenshots on X (formerly Twitter), the feature shows the favicon and domain name of advertisers at the top of the ad block in mobile search results.

The test places the list of advertisers directly under the 'Sponsored results' header and above the actual ads. This change makes sense given Google's recent introduction of an ad grouping layout, which allows users to hide or show ads.

The impact of this new feature on click-through rates is yet unknown, but it could potentially influence user behavior and ad performance.
