Google Tests Animated Raccoon for Weather Info on Android Auto
Google is testing an unusual way to display weather information on Android Auto. The company has found a new use for Jimothy, a viral raccoon that will show the current temperature in a fun and animated way.
The feature uses the Coolwalk interface, which divides the screen into multiple cards. Each card represents a different app category, such as navigation or music.
However, Google has faced challenges implementing this feature due to limited screen space on most Android Auto displays. The weather information is currently displayed in the status bar, but Google wants to create a dedicated card for it.
The raccoon character will appear on the screen over the music card and walk around while showing the temperature. The media card background will change accordingly to reflect the current conditions.
