Google Tests Swipe Gesture for Gemini Overlay Minimization
Google is testing a new feature to minimize Gemini overlays into small icons on Android devices. This gesture, which shrinks the chat area by swiping left or right on the overlay, keeps the conversation running in the background without interrupting phone usage.
The new animation is part of version 17.58.13 of the Google app and appears to be a response to user feedback about the current Gemini navigation method, which requires pulling down from the grab handle.
While the feature is still under development, it's unclear whether additional actions will be assigned to this gesture in the future. For now, swiping left or right minimizes the chat, but tapping on the bubble with a Gemini icon expands the conversation back into its original shape.
