Google Translate Gets Major Updates with Multitasking and Earbud Support

Google has rolled out two significant updates to its Translate app for both Android and iOS devices. The first update enables multitasking capabilities on Android, allowing users to continue translating speech in the background even when they open other apps or lock their device.

This feature will be available to all Android users starting today (September 4), while iOS users can expect it soon. iPhone users will also benefit from improved translation capabilities through earbuds, which will deliver audio translations directly. Alternatively, iOS users can use the 'Conversation' mode by holding their phone to their ear, similar to a call.

The updates aim to make Google Translate more user-friendly and efficient, particularly for those learning new languages or traveling abroad. The app now supports over 70 languages in near real-time translations, with Android users able to hold live translation sessions lasting longer than five minutes.
