Google TV Phones to Double as Game Controllers
Google TV users may soon have an alternative to traditional game controllers. The company is reportedly working on allowing phones to control games on Google TV, according to new code strings in the latest version of the app.
The feature would allow phones to act as a touchscreen remote for gaming, with on-screen buttons and a joystick similar to those used on foldable phones.
This move could be seen as a middle ground between releasing a physical gamepad and providing no controller at all. Google has previously struggled with the lack of convenient controllers for its platform.
The feature is still in development, and it's unclear whether it will ever ship. However, official backing from Google could encourage more game development on the platform.
