Google Unveils AI-Powered Hotel Booking Feature Through Chat Interface
Google has expanded its AI-powered travel booking platform, AI Mode in Search. The feature now allows users to book hotels directly through a chat interface.
The tech giant announced the update on August 27th, stating that users can describe their trip and receive hotel recommendations with photos, rates, and reviews. They can then select 'Continue on Google' to choose a room and pay using Google Pay.
The hotel or booking site remains the merchant of record and handles post-checkout customer service. Partners joining the hotel booking rollout include Choice Hotels International, Hilton, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Priceline, and Trip.com.
Choice Hotels' chief data, AI, and technology officer, Anna Scozzafava, said that working with Google as an early partner for hotel booking through AI Mode in Search helps make it easier for travelers to find the right Choice hotel for their trip.
