Google Unveils Android 17 QPR1 for Pixel Devices
Google has released Android 17 QPR1 for Pixel devices, marking the end of an extended beta period. This update comes as part of the September 2026 Feature Drop and security patch.
The new version introduces several interface changes across the system UI. The volume panel now features a Dynamic Color-themed translucency, while the full bottom sheet has been updated with similar effects. The Power menu has also been refreshed, accompanied by background blur. This design overhaul matches the updates seen in the widgets picker during the initial Android 17 June release.
The system media player has undergone a significant change with a Material 3 carousel-based interface when multiple apps are open. Instead of dots at the bottom, users now see a preview of other applications, with their current card shrinking to make room. When opening Quick Settings, a new bouncy animation is displayed, and there's an icon in the bottom-right corner for making edits.
The Mobile Data Tile has been updated with a 'Don't ask me again' toggle. A new QS Tile for 'Keyboard' allows users to access the system switcher. The Screen recording tool now defaults to the last-used application. Additionally, when long-pressing on homescreen apps, the menu is split into app Shortcuts and system Actions.
